Ladies Geeking Out (LGO) was founded on August 18, 2013 by Aurora Bubbaloo in Lafayette, IN. The purpose was, and still is, to create a safe space for geek girls and women to be themselves and express their inner geek. We provide a judgement-free, fun environment and platform for ladies to geek out and create strong friendships with other women. We have multiple events every month which range from watching movies, book discussions, D&D, game nights, and everything in between. Whether you are a whovian, trekkie, brown coat, love science, have a creative spirit, zombie fan, gamer, cosplayer, reader, movie buff, or anything among those lines, this group is for you. All ages welcome!
Aurora is the founder and organizer of Ladies Geeking Out. She is currently a women's representation in geek culture activist and frequents comic, anime, gaming conventions to talk about women in geek culture. She is the writer of Geek Girl of the week and manages the Ladies Geeking Out group in Lafayette, IN. Aurora loves everything geek but most of all, she is a hard core gamer and huge Trekkie.
Bridget Isakson joined Ladies Geeking Out in February 2014 after recovering a bit from a frantic move from the Metro-Detroit area to Lafayette with her husband at the end of December. Feeling the need to look at something other than her husband and the walls of her apartment, Bridget went to meetup.com to find out if there were any other people as odd as she was. Fortunately for her, she discovered the Ladies Geeking Out group, and after some intense internal monologues, finally convinced herself to venture forth and meet strange new strangers. Much rejoicing was experienced by the Mrs. Isakson when she found others who shared in her weird loves of things such as history, Doctor Who, and Anglophilia.
Lisabeth Little is a radiologic technologist and PACS administrator. She recently went back to school for Computer Science and hope someday to do something with animation or video game development. She loves Firefly, Star Wars and Marvel over DC. She joined Ladies Geeking Out on July 6, 2014 to meet new people and hopefully make new friends. It has been a wonderful experience for her. Everyone, and she honestly means everyone, has been so nice and welcoming. She will be writing about learning to code and apps. She will also be showing how to perform science experiments.
Asia Thomas is a graphic designer and illustrator who loves all things animated. She writes about anime, cartoons, tropes, and media representation. She joined LGO in June of 2014 looking for a bunch of smart lady friends and hasn't been disappointed.
